Fall 2011- WEEK 1 (9/25/11)

Welcome to Shared Stories to our new students and welcome back to our past students.

This week is the first week of our FALL 2011 semester. 
Here was our agenda:
1) We had the students fill out a brief pre-survey
2) Program and mentor introductions
3) a Name Game
4) Played the M&M game
5) Recap of last semester by the students
6) Talked about planned syllabus and the blog
7) Came up with a list of ground rules
8) Icebreaker: Where the Wind Blows?
9) Discussion: Why did you come to the US?  Do you think immigrant stories are important to share?  Why?


List of Ground Rules:
- Respect others
- No interruptions
- Be open-minded
- Ask questions; participate!
- Confidentiality
- Right to pass
- NO Plagiarism
- Have FUN!!!


ASSIGNMENT: Bring a picture of a person, place or thing or actual item that seems especially American to you.  Be prepared to discuss in the next session.
