WELCOME TO SHARED STORIES

Shared Stories educates and empowers young people to become advocates for our communities. PAST PROJECT SPOTLIGHT

Street to Tweet Campaign:
We went into the streets of Chinatown and various events and asked people to tell us what Immigration Reform meant to them

Student Testimonials:

"It was very tough for me to leave my home in China and step into a dramatically different world. I miss my family and friends all the time when I just came in this country. I joined this program because I want to know why immigrants left their own country and go into a place where they have never been before, and I want to know how they feel about this huge change in their life. Many immigrants don’t have good living conditions or a high salary job. I hope I can learn more about immigrants in this program."
- James Wu, Spring 2012 - Summer 2013

"As a member of Shared Stories, I learned about the issues facing the Asian American community, but more importantly, I started to take action such as doing research and applying them into today’s issues such as budget cuts and the DREAM Act. This program gave me the opportunity to meet people and become an advocate for my community. I want to use my education to continue becoming an active member of my community and eventually help those people who need it most."
- Jasmine Li, student from Summer 2011 - Summer 2012

"I enjoy participating in Shared Stories because it offers me a chance to learn about the issues on immigration and to meet with different people who I could be inspired from their intelligence and diligence."
- Zhoufeng Ni, Fall 2011 - Fall 2012

"I told people about voting in Chinese because they didn't speak English.  It feels good to be involved.”
- YeLin Cheng, Fall 2012 - Spring 2013
